I’m still taking online drawing class. I like to practice a lot before I move on to the next lesson.
This is my first attempt at drawing a building using perspective points. I was off but I don’t mind it since my drawing style is whimsical in a way.
My brain no longer hurts when I try to find the right angles. I’ve gotten well at drawing rooms but drawing our house was tricky.
This afternoon I worked outside for a bit then picked up my sketch book and began drawing.
Let me tell you how free it is to learn and practice a new hobby rather than just scrolling through shit on my phone.
Between writing, drawing, cooking, and planning my patio garden I have less time for nonsense.
Speaking of my garden, all the old-school Italian gardeners I know start their seeds and eat cream puffs on March 19th St Joseph’s Day.
This is a real thing eating cream puffs and planting seeds on St. Joseph’a Day in NJ but I know other people who do the same thing.
I already bought my seeds, so that’s what I’ll be doing on March 19, St. Joseph’s Day, eating cream puffs and planting starter seeds.
I’ll be resharing my post about St. Patrick’s Day and St. Joseph’s Day next week. 🍀🇮🇪🇮🇹
This drawing brings me so much joy! I’ve been reading your blog for a long time and this is my first comment. I am a retired art teacher that now has time to draw every day. I worked with two other friends to establish a chapter for the international Urban Sketchers in Kansas City Missouri. My guess is there will be a Chapter close to you. Our chapter meets once or twice a month at different locations all over the city and sometimes in rural locations. We have sketchers at ALL LEVELS of experience. We share ideas, what sketchbook papers we like, pens we use and etc. Sometimes we have an experienced sketcher give a demo. We have been ‘invited’ to sketch at different locations because everyone loves to see the different drawings.
This is just an idea for you to continue your exploration in drawing! I think you will enjoy looking at our Facebook group page. We have new drawings everyday usually. In particular I suggest you look at Judith Coe’s drawings. She is prolific, drawing several houses every day. And her work is stellar.
Please post more of your work on your blog! Enjoy the journey! ALSO, you can join our group on Facebook and post them there! We have people from other states that have joined us. There are no fees with USK. Our page is Urban Sketchers Kansas City (group). Please contact me if you have any questions.
Love your wee sketch, photos, and stories! I was a university music professor and administrator, started drawing and painting in earnest when I retired a few years ago, and I love to cook (I have granddaughters with FPIES and understand food challenges)x Aspects of your life resonate with me (I love spätzle) and it’s so good to have the space and time, now, to focus on this part of my creative life.
Peggy Wilson is a marvelous teacher, a fabulous artist, and a great champion of urban sketching! I hope you’ll seek out a chapter near you, go out sketching, and continue to explore and experiment. And I’d love to see your sketches on our USkKC page.
Planting seeds and eating cream puffs sounds like a perfect day!
